Ruby Beach
At just 1/2 of a mile of hiking round trip, Ruby beach makes for a perfect destination for those looking for limited hiking with maximum rewards. With stunning sea stacks, incredible coastal views, tide pools, eagles, otters and more, Ruby Beach is sure to become a family favorite and the site of some of the most spectacular sunsets in America. If you haven’t been to Ruby Beach, do not pass it up- it is a local classic that deserves all the praise it can get, for it is one of the true jewels of Olympic National Park.

Named for the reddish sand that occasionally gathers on the beach, Ruby Beach is one of the most well known and highly anticipated beaches to visit along the Olympic coastline. Like all of the beaches in the Kalaloch area, Ruby Beach has a tremendous amount of driftwood on its shores, and is notable for the large number of sea stacks in the area (those large rock islands just off the coast).

Greg,, this is amazing. I mean how do you manage to get the seagull to pose for you at the very tippy top of the cliff like that? You are a blessed photographer along with being talented and skilled. Voted!! And faved, love this photo of one of my favorite places.

Christine, I appreciate your great comment and the v&f!! Every now and then I get all the pieces to fit together!!! Of course I have shot a few hundred images to get the one good one! Even then some images require a 'minds eye' looking at - thus cropping or stylizing or...... to make it a keeper.
